Shopping for insurance online is the easiest way for you to compare rates and save a ton of cash. There are many ways to start shopping online and I'll describe both here so you can make your decisions on how you want to do it.
In the "good old days" you would go to your Yellow Pages and open up to the Insurance section to find local agents. You would weed through the list and try to find addresses that were close to you or go by the photos of the faces with the biggest and most trustworthy smile.
Today, you can open up your web browser and visit Google, Yahoo or Bing and search for a local agent. All you have to do is type in something like "Phoenix Arizona Auto Insurance" and a list of local insurance agents will pop up. There will also be a map of agents in the town to help you 'localize' your search more.
Once you have your list of agents there you can fill out their quote forms online or call each one and start shopping. It can take anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes with each online form or, if you're calling around, anywhere from 10-30 minutes calling each agent.
Now, let's take it a step further. You can also often find online quote companies that will allow you to fill out only one form online and they'll send the information you filled out to about 5 local agents that subscribe to receive your information and provide you quotes.
Think about how much time this factor has saved you now. You fill out 1 form online that takes about 3-5 minutes to fill out. They send it to the local agents to quote you. You get to sit back and wait for the quotes to arrive in your email and compare them when you have free time again. Is that easy or what?
If you've never done this before you can find sites like this online. Give it a try. You'll only lose about 5 minutes of time and you may be able to save hundreds of dollars on your auto insurance.
