Let's compare Phoenix Auto Insurance quotes versus Chandler Auto Insurance quotes.
First, coverage options are the same throughout all of Arizona. In fact, the coverage options would have no effect on either city you live in.
So, if we have the same coverage on our Phoenix Auto Insurance policy as we do on our Chandler Auto Insurance policy, what would make the difference in rates?
Obviously, the first thing is the location where the cars are garaged. Phoenix is much more populated and more people work there. With more vehicles moving around the chance of accidents are higher and, to make an assumption here, the rates will be more expensive overall. This will most likely hold true if you live closer to downtown than if you live in far North Phoenix where there are fewer people.
Now, consider Chandler, especially South Chandler. There's still some farmland down there. Not a lot of people driving on the road. However, you go further North and you're right up against Tempe and on the West is I-10. The further South you are in Chandler, as a rule of thumb, the rates will be less than along I-10 or the Tempe border where there is more traffic.
Of course, you can't use this as justification for the prices in either city. Rates are based on actuarial tables for each zip code for each company. What this means is if one company has a lot of losses in your zip code, another company may have had none and can offer much lower rates.
As an independent insurance agent we'll see one company lowering their rates and another raising in the same month because of these factors.
I know you're not considering moving just to save a few bucks on your auto insurance but before you make that final home buying decision, this may be something to help you afford that nicer home.
